Many of these problems could be solved if the government bothered to renationalise the railways and subsequently subsidise fares to make them more affordable.

Commuting by rail isn't any fun but if we assume a 20-mile round trip as the average then an EV needs charging twice a week for workers and employees can also pressure bosses to install charging points. You would never need to queue at services.

For longer journeys though having a comfy seat on a train is infinitely preferable to being stuck in traffic on the M1. EVs are but one part of the wider transportation conundrum and a sticking plaster by themselves. Sorting out cheaper mass transit is the real solution.
