NFTs as artwork had no use cases. The public could never get on board with them because, well how much is a piece of art worth if you cannot use it to enhance the physical space you actually occupy?

Unfortunately the technology behind them is now sadly forever associated with artwork scams. In reality the NFT, that is that token of ownership has utility.

Consider last year when I was applying for new passports for my family. For my kids I had to get hold of birth documents from grandparents going back 70 years, entrust them to the postal service and then further trust the civil service to send them back. This took about 2 months altogether.

Had all this documentation existed digitally on a government-backed blockchain the whole process would have taken a couple of days as the NFT IDs handshake the governments computers and they then send a digital NFT passport I can store in my phone and a later physical copy.

The NFT and blockchain technology could be used to cut down on huge amounts of government bureaucracy.
