Instead I'll flip it: We had the message wrong from the beginning. Rather than concentrating on the climate we should have made the impending drying up of the planet's oil reserves our top priority. Had we had concentrated on building renewable energy solutions as the top priority at the turn of the century so we could continue actually having energy the climate would have sorted itself out anyway and the finite nature of our fossil fuel reserves isn't up for debate; they will run out at some point. The Russia/Ukraine war might actually help this along because Russia cutting off the gas supplies gives us a good idea of what it will look like when it can't be bought from anywhere.
