One thing I will say for Apple is their hardware often lasts for a long time. Up until recently when its SSD failed my Mac Mini had served me since 2011. I still have my 2006 MacBook in use, although mainly to remind me how bloody good Tiger was as an OS.

Apple clearly has the engineering skills though to build computers that are both easily reparable and upgradable by the end user but choose not to for their own benefit.

This extends out to the iPhone which could easily have a user replaceable battery. The Samsung XCover 6 Pro (a niche phone if ever there was one) is IP68 and has a user replaceable battery. If Samsung can do it…..
