Opening up the cloud storage market would make platform lock-in a lot harder and I suppose there is no reason why people shouldn't be able to choose to use Onedrive, Mega, Google et al as the backend for their iPhoto collections.

It would also be nice to be able to set up a private relay to my own server at home so all my photos back up to local storage instead of a faceless cloud server I could get locked out of.
