Our western healthcare systems are stretched and I would wager a large percentage of appointments are entirely for peace of mind reasons: people know there is nothing seriously wrong with them but they want to know what is. I’m not knocking these appointments because they are useful for dealing with anxiety (heck, I make them all the time!) but they also add up to a lot of time.
If our devices can instead monitor our levels and vitals then it might become possible for faster remote appointments to happen or even a sufficiently advanced AI to suggest what is wrong (that last one has a lot of ethical implications though and probably isn’t a good idea)
I was admitted last year with an infectious insect bite and they doctors wanted to keep me in to monitor my higher than expected heart rate to make sure it wasn’t the bite. I pulled up my Apple Health data and showed them it had been that high for a month and they let me go making room for people who actually had serious problems.
