Pushing for new horizons gives people hope, inspiration and wonder. It is basic human nature to wonder what is over the next horizon; now we know we look up to the stars. There are also massively unexplored commercial benefits which will benefit future generations 1000x over.
Back down on earth we also produce enough food as a planet to feed the whole of civilisation twice over every day. The only reason we have poverty is due to individual greed, massive wastage and terrible supply chain issues.
