So You Bought an iOS Controller

iOS is home to hundreds of exclusive titles that cater to all sorts of players, in particular ports of titles from dedicated gaming platforms. These titles were not designed with touchscreens in mind and often feature faster gameplay requiring more digits than two thumbs. If you’re in this category of player you’ve likely invested in a controller. iOS supports all major gaming peripherals out there from the likes of Xbox and PlayStation but it is the dedicated devices that perform better. In a previous article I recommended the Backbone One. Available in Lightning and USB-C variants it stretches over your iPhone, turning it into a widescreen Nintendo Switch. So, with controllers in hand let us look at some of the best titles to play that are infinitely better with buttons. Note that all of these titles are pay-once with no in-app purchases beyond additional level packs and no monetary barriers to gameplay.
