Whilst there are certainly more fantastical parts to Horizon, all the religions of the tribes and their superstitions are all based on misinterpretations of how the advanced technology behind Zero Dawn actually worked. It’s fantastical in the way that super-advanced technology appears to be to primitives in fiction.

The sequel really moves into Sci-Fi territory with returning immortal enemies from the stars and all.
