The arguement should be that we should need to interact with the top third of the phone screen at all and in fact every time we do the design team at iOS and Android have failed; 100% of the phone should be useable with one hand all of the time without any ‘reachability’ fudge.

There are plenty of ways around this, from having bottom-stacking notifications like webOS did in 2008 to having control centre sit on a LH swipe on the multitasking screen. The camera has a button on the lock screen so this would replace that there.
