The article is only slanted towards Apple because the industry takes their lead, or at least used to take it from Apple. If Apple bump their prices up the rest of the industry normally follows suit just because they are wary of Apple's clever marketing that anything cheaper than an iPhone is inferior.

Apple make great handsets! Regardless of iPhone you're getting a well-built product that will last you years. But other manufacturers have caught up and are offering just as well made devices for a lot less. Nothing, Samsung, Google. Xiaomi etc all offer perhaps 90% of the phone for 30% of the price. There are tradeoffs certainly but as a great man once sang: If I hadn't seen such riches I could live with being poor.
