The biggest takeaway is that outside the USA nobody uses iMessage. Apple tout 2bn ‘users’ but this is just people using the messages app and not iMessage as a service. WhatsApp dominant platform globally with 3bn users, humans who chose to install it.

RCS is both an appeasement to the EU and Apple’s attempts to grab market share from Meta which will not work. Ask any European and they will tell you that either all their friends run Android or those on iOS never use iMessage.
