"The Christian religion is a Roman invention."

You're obviously a lot more educated than me on these things looking at your bio, but is this only strictly true in a ceremonial, dogmatic sense?

Up until Constantine had a dream about a cross and a battle, had his soldiers paint it on their shields and then won, the early followers of Christ (Christian being a roman derogatory term at this point) were pockets of sects planted around the mediterranean by Paul.

They had no bible, just a bunch of handwritten copies of letters and eyewitness accounts. They hid from the threat of roman execution but were still Christians in the sense of being followers of Jesus.
