Apple could also have used this as an excuse to release a shorter Pencil 3 or Apple Pen. A typical pencil is normally 160mm in length whereas a biro is 140mm.

This would then connect to the portrait side via magnets or via a T-shaped dongle that elegantly slots into the USB-C port.

Thankfully Amazon is full of good quality 3rd party pencils that charge over USB-C. I use one with the Pro that cost me $30 and its great.
