The entire energy supply chain needs a rethink for it to work. Merely unplugging one power source for another whilst maintaining the same inefficiencies will lead to failure.

Energy efficiency much be at the heart of every piece of electronics sold. The annual stat buffs need to end. Energy generation should be as local as possible to create local jobs and reduce transmission losses.

As with most of our modern problems our ancestors found the solutions. In this case we need to be thinking locally first and then scaling up and not the other way around.
