The fact Google are offering full refunds for all purchases shows that this was in the end a massive R&D exercise for them.

What they did do was prove that the technology could work at scale because despite its detractors Stadia was actually really, really good! Microsoft and Sony now both offer their own streaming subscriptions as a result.

I just hope Nintendo are watching.
