The fact is that there is so little app parity between the 2 platforms as to make comparisons, as you say, completely worthless. If you use Final Cut for video editing you aren't going to go near Windows; if you have a huge Steam games library why would you buy a Mac?
The same can also be said of iOS and Android. Despite appearances there is again little app parity between the 2. On an iPhone I can start a sketch in Procreate or editing an image in Pixelmator and finish it on my Mac. I can still chase my 10-year-old high score on Tiny Wings. If I have an itch to play some classic console games via an emulator though I will want to have Android around.
Hardware comparisons mean nothing when the software that drives these devices is so different and exclusive.
