The idea is certainly intriguing. The laser projector display is a brilliant idea.

But I can't help think that they would have had better luck building a watch off the same idea. A prismatic laser could project on the back of your hand (although an OLED would be better)

It is likely the Apple Watch may end up this way as you can already use it as an independent product for kids and the elderly.
