The internet immediately made existing copyright laws outdated.
Artists and creators should 100% be reimbursed for their time if a product is readily available for purchase. Piracy is not cool. But art should also not be gatekeeped and locked away in a vault.
We live in a fast moving age where bands split, companies merge, licences run out and new devices are launched. Into this maelstrom we have abandonware, digital content that ends up in limbo.
There should be a fair use law granting non-commercial public access to files (not IP) that has not been on sale for, say a decade. This would allow future generations to enjoy older content (eg retro videogames) and also aid in preservation efforts.
