The iPhone 5 (and the 4 before it) were design classics. When I've left Apple adopted it's fondly remembered flat sides as it's internal design language. Recycling it isn't a bad thing.
I don't get the obsession with OS updates. I happily still use Windows 7 and High Sierra without issue. I have an iPad that's still good that maxed out on OS12.
Some browsing data is the unavoidable exchange mechanic for a free and open web. Apple hoover up as much personal data as Google do. But instead of using it on easily-blocked web ads they stuff my inbox with gaming recommendations, continued hardware pushes and ways to give them even more money.
