The nordic model is often held up as the gold standard, with a strong mix of both social democracy but also prioritising economic growth for individuals and businesses.
Near-to-purely capitalist 'dog-eat-dog' western societies have ended up failing both their citizens and the next generation. Both the USA and the UK have terrible levels of poverty, mostly driven by the incredibly outdated notion that you can run a country of tens-to-hundreds of millions of people with a small state and hope it works out.
The goal of nordic social democracy is not to prevent people from becoming rich but to make sure that safety nets exist for the unemployed and that things like childcare, healthcare and even affording bus fare are not barriers to citizens. There is a reason that life expectancy, citizen's satisfaction and progressive governments thrive in the nordic countries. But they have systems in place to ensure the government does not overreach and the populace has a say in how things are done.
By concentrating on the wellbeing of citizens over pure profit we can ensure we build better countries for everyone, not just the Billionaires.
