There is a great think piece in this months MacFormat* about why Apple being boring is actually a very exciting thing. The tech industry is always looking for its next big hype and if it’s not the CEO’s of social media firms threatening each other with a cage match it is the wads of VC funding always looking for something to peak early.

Android handsets are turning to interesting niches (that some might call gimmicks….) to at least try and set the headlines,

But we aren’t likely to see Tim Cook challenging Sundar Pichai or Satya Nadella to a boxing match any time soon and the iPhone might be a little bit boring but you can depend on it for anything. The way things are across the tech world at the minute I think I’ll take boring any day of the week.

*You know Mark I’d be interested to know if you ever bothered with Mac literature in the past? I for one still lament the passing of the legendary MacUser magazine.
