Things were done on both sides of the war which I am sure every side would love to sweep under the rug of history. We should be honest about the mistakes of the past so they are never repeated but we should also do the most difficult thing of all and accept a unilateral forgiveness. We could point the finger of blame going back millennia if we really wanted to but what good would it do for future generations?

It is our children who must go forward with a clean slate, to which end perhaps a double bill of Grave of the Fireflies and Goodnight Mr. Tom is a better release?
