Tin Sweeney's big play was Sony and Microsoft. They both contribute over 80% of Fortnite revenue compared to what was Apple's paltry 2-3%.

Knowing of some disgruntlement about App Store practices he went after Apple because he knew if he could get Apple to capitulate then Sony and Microsoft would have no leg to stand on opening up their consoles to the Epic games store.

But he wouldn't dare bite the hand that feeds him and so didn;t go straight after them in court. Epic didn't really lose anything from the Apple case; indeed they gained a lot of free publicity from the tech press.
