We are a long, long way from AGI. They cannot do anything beyond the data that was fed into them; this is why we see AI hallucinations and why OpenAI are frantically trying to find more input for GPT to gorge on. That is to say they have no imagination and cannot conjure what has not already been created.

However AI does have all sorts of handy implementations and has for years, from object erasure and photographic algorithms to predictive text.
