What Apple has to be worried about is Google being the first company to really show how AI can be helpful to the everyday citizen.
Sure generative AI is impressive but how useful is it really to the everyday citizen? The photo editing features might have purist photographers turning up their noses (who it should be noted would have no problem selling you an image that spent 2 hours being rinsed through Lightroom; hardly ‘of the moment’) but I think they are incredibly useful and show off the potential of the technology.
They can also help tech the fundamentals of photography. If you are editing the location of the subject more than a new times because the image was badly composed eventually you will learn to properly compose the image and not need the AI.
One of these days Sony will announce a partnership with Google and create a mirrorless that has Pixel smarts. The images that could produce would be incredible.
