What is needed (if it doesn’t already exist) is an IOT standard for cars to communicate with each other whilst on the road at a constant rate so that rather than relying on your own internal sensors the cars’ CPU is also fed data by those around it as well as directly from the highway.

I’m a big believer that the future of AR is a system like this, with urban IOT pushing their information to AR devices rather than an app-based paradigm like we have now. This act more like the open internet we have now and prevent hardware from becoming outdated; I can still browse the internet on my 2006 MacBook for example even if the machine is obsolete from app development.

The car seems like a great place to start this trend.
