What Zuckerberg eat al seem to have missed is that the OASIS and Metaverse were created as a reaction to the dystopian collapse of IRL society and are definitely not the blueprint for how to build such an area. Zuckerberg doesn’t have enough self awareness to realise he is the Nolan Sorento villain characters in his own story.

The idea of a virtual space to socialise isn’t really anything new. I remember spending many late nights sat in a lobby on Sega classic Phantasy Star Online chatting to my regular party members (a girl from Wales and her brother) before another dungeon run. These days I do it in Fortnite with my buddies every week.

What we don’t need is a way to link them all together though. Social Media kind of destroyed most of the really great forum and guestbook communities of Web1; I’d hate to see Fortnite, Second Life, World of Warcraft, League of Legends or whatever else is still going meet the same fate.
