When Apple were actually better than the competition I was a huge Apple fanboy. When Microsoft were putting out Windows Vista and the competition was the Samsung Tocco it was so easy.

Fast forward 15 years and Apple have become boring and dependable. This isn't a bad thing but there isn't much excitement around. Apple do not help themselves when they market phones that cost $1k+ as 'Pro' when they just have features you can find on $300 Android devices they neglected to include on the base model.

The annoying part is there is so much they could include to rectify the situation: manual camera modes, pencil compatibility and charging, a new version of Aperture, a ground-up iOS rebuild for one-handed use to stop people dropping their phones in the first place and so on.

But they don't. I've since moved back to Android and Google which have a lot more utility and handset choice. I'm not saying Apple need to reinvent the wheel but they need more to justify a USB 2.0, $1500 phone than VRR and better video.
