When most people think of the metaverse they think of The Metaverse or OASIS, an infinite interactive 3D space for people to engage with content and each other in real time via the internet like a vast version of Second Life or PlayStation Home or an infinite number of infinitely different Fortnite Islands.

Shared data protocols is a always a good idea and I am for the organic growth of the internet as it moves forward.

But if the pandemic taught us one thing it is the value of physical human contact. I play Fortnite weekly with my friends because we live in different cities and countries but if we all still lived in the same city we'd be at the pub playing darts instead like a shot.
