Whilst the web, whether its 3D or 2D needs a server to run on it will never be truly decentralised. Even if Blockchain becomes an efficient data storage medium (which in its current state it is not) you will still need an IP to get online because that network of wires, bandwidth and radio waves still needs paying for and maintaining by a centralised company.

The metaverse has actually existed for decades. In terms of using the digital to enhance the physical? The NES had 2 controller ports for a reason :) In terms of the internet? I’ve been part of the same forum community for the last 20 years. We fund it via community donations and everyone gets a say in potential changes.

I do however think there is a huge future for blockchain technology, particularly when it comes to speeding up state bureaucracy.
