Why does he even need to collect that data? If he had nothing to gain he would open it up to wider biometric ID.

Iris scanning has been possible for over a decade. Both the Lumia 950 and the Galaxy Note 7 had Iris recognition technology and this was in 2016. It has formed the basis of the Windows 10 ‘Hello’ log-in tech for years.

It wouldn’t be too hard to fit a heart-rate sensor and a temperature sensor to a traditional fingerprint scanning button on a smartphone to tell someone was human.
