Every parent knows the story: you’re sat in a pub waiting for lunch talking to other adults and your child tugs at your elbow because they’re bored. With nobody their own age to play with, you unlock your phone and let them play some games.
Don’t feel guilty, its something we all do! But what happens when your child gets curious and starts swiping around looking for photos or emails? The whole of a phone OS is like an interactive game to a young person and before you know it you’ve lost some work documents or they’ve sent your entire work address book a picture of their innocent face.
Ever wish there was a solution? Well, there was. Microsoft’s Windows Phone platform died a sad death but it had some clever features that have never been stolen by Apple or Google and one of them was Kid’s Corner.
Essentially a seperate homescreen for your kids, you could specify which applications and gameswere included and log into them with a seperate Xbox account if need be. You could even pick a seperate lockscreen wallpaper for them.
All they then had to do was swipe to the left (like summoning the camera on iOS) to pull across their lockscreen and from there they could go in. All data was sandboxed to seperate…
